Member of French Chamber of Commerce KenyaAn internship in Africa.
A culture to discover.
We line up the internship, the accommodation, language classes, an airport transfer, and a SIM card — you pick only what you need, skip the rest, and pay for exactly that. You arrive already set up to do real work, and to actually live here — living the experience fully, not just passing through.
Why Kenya?
More than an internship destination.
NAIROBI, KENYA
A real, growing tech & business scene
Nicknamed the "Silicon Savannah," Nairobi is one of Africa's fastest-growing hubs for tech, finance, and NGOs. Whether you're after marketing, business development, engineering, finance, or something else entirely, placements come with real responsibilities — not just an office tour.
English gets you through the door
English is one of Kenya's two official languages, alongside Swahili, so the language barrier is lower than you'd expect from day one. Both are worth having: English opens doors internationally for business and work, while Swahili is spoken by millions across East Africa and helps you connect on the ground.
Your budget stretches further
This isn't just "cheaper" — it's more experience per euro. The budget that gets you a shared room and instant noodles in a European capital gets you a private studio, home-cooked meals, and weekend safaris here. You spend less and live better.
Weekend adventures built in
Some weekends, adventure is just a short ride away — feeding giraffes at eye level at the Giraffe Centre, or losing an afternoon to a run through Karura Forest's canopy. Other weekends, it's a few hours further: a Maasai Mara sunrise, the white sand of Diani, the Rift Valley opening up beneath you. Wherever the weekend takes you, Monday's internship is never far behind.
How it works?

Why Beyond Internships?
We handle the logistics. You handle the adventure.
We find the internship that fits you — not the other way around.
An internship is more than a job description.
It's the people you'll spend your days with.
The skills you'll develop.
The environment you'll grow in.
Your first step toward the career you want.
That's why we start with you — your field, your ambitions, what you want from your time in Kenya. No job boards, no copied listings, no forwarding your CV and hoping: we find the right host company for you, and learn about their team, their culture, and the work you'd actually be doing, before it ever reaches you.
You land in Kenya already knowing where you're going, who you're working with, and why.
Pay for what you need, nothing else
No forced bundles. The placement is the only fixed piece — accommodation, transfers, SIM and language classes are add-ons you switch on and off yourself, and the total updates as you go.
A guide on the ground, not a hotline
Someone local meets you in person when you land and helps you find your feet in the first weeks. You're not emailing a support inbox three time zones away and waiting until tomorrow for an answer.
The price you see is the price you pay
Every figure is printed on this page, right above. Nothing gets added after you commit, and the written quote you receive matches the total you built yourself — flights, visa, rent and insurance stay yours to arrange.
You're not the trial run
This isn't the first placement service we've built. The vetting process, the local relationships, the logistics — all of it was tested and refined before Beyond Internships existed. You benefit from that experience on day one.

Giving back, not just passing through.
of every Beyond Internships booking goes toward educating students in Kenya
Sponsors school fees
By using Beyond Internships, you're not just funding your own educational internship abroad — you're funding someone else's education too: 3% goes straight toward school fees for young students.
Funds a visit & volunteer day
We organize a visit and volunteer day with the students that funding supports — and if you'd like to take part during your time here, you're welcome to join.
We publish photos and a short update from the program every term, so you can actually see where the 3% goes.

About us
Why Beyond Internships exists
Before there was a Beyond Internships, there were a few years of me doing this work already — helping students find real placements abroad, and watching, up close, what made those experiences work or fall apart.
The internship was rarely the problem. It was the accommodation nobody could verify from abroad, the logistics figured out at the last minute, pricing that made you pay for things you never asked for, and no real support once you'd already committed.
I built Beyond Internships to close that gap — with pricing that flexes to what you actually need, and the kind of support that comes from already knowing where things usually go wrong.
FAQ
Your questions, answered.
What's actually included in the internship placement?
The 300€ core package covers matching you with a real internship in your field, application support, and confirmation from the host organization. Support and guidance from our team is included as standard, not an add-on. Everything else — housing, transfers, SIM, language classes — is optional, so you build the package that fits your trip.
Do I need to speak Swahili to intern in Kenya?
No. English is one of Kenya's two official languages and is used in most workplaces, so you can work comfortably without speaking Swahili. That said, picking up a few phrases goes a long way — our language add-on covers the basics fast.
Is Kenya safe for international students and interns?
Yes. Like anywhere, it depends on where and how you live day to day — and that's exactly what we're there for. We place students in vetted housing in safe, well-connected neighborhoods, and our team is on hand with the practical, on-the-ground information and guidance you actually need to navigate daily life with confidence from the moment you land.
Do I need a visa?
Yes — interning in Kenya requires an internship visa, which allows you to intern for up to a year. It's a different process from a standard tourist eTA. We'll guide you through the application step by step, and if you'd rather not deal with it yourself, we can submit the application on your behalf for a fee.
How long do internships typically last?
Most placements fall into one of two ranges: two months or less, or three to six months. Tell us which one your program requires when you apply and we'll source accordingly.
Can I pick only some of the add-ons?
Yes — that's the whole idea. The internship placement is the only fixed piece; accommodation search, airport transfer, SIM card, and language classes are all optional, so you only pay for what you actually want handled.
What happens if the internship or housing falls through?
We stay involved after the initial placement — if something falls through, we work with you to find an alternative rather than leaving you to sort it out on your own.
Will someone actually meet me at the airport?
Yes, if you choose the airport transfer add-on — a private chauffeur meets you at arrivals and drives you to your accommodation, and does the same return trip when you leave. Even without that add-on, our team is there to support you — from before you leave, at arrival, and until you're back home.
Do you offer internships in other countries?
Currently, we place students in Kenya only — it's where we know the internship landscape, the housing market, and the day-to-day logistics best. That said, if you have a specific need or destination in mind, reach out — we may be able to look into placing you elsewhere on a case-by-case basis.
Can I extend my trip to travel around Kenya afterward?
Absolutely — plenty of students add a week or two at the end for safari or the coast. Just let us know when you apply so we can plan around it.
